Enter The Matrix - Advanced reporting services with the matrix control and common table expressions
This presentation will introduce the powerful capabilities of the matrix control by demonstrating the creation of a relatively complex report from procedure creation to report formatting. Some features which will be utilized for our report include:
- Recursive common table expressions with TSQL.
- Multi-level grouping with the matrix control.
- Interactive drill-down capabilities with the matrix control.
- Dynamic formatting using expressions to create “smart dates”.
Note: I will be using SQLServer 2005 but all concepts are forward compatible and will work in SQLServer 2008.
